Prizes and Awards
The Department offers the following prizes and awards in recognition of outstanding achievement by undergraduate students.
- Political Science Outstanding Student-Cash Prize based on scholastic achievement (minimum 3.5 GPA), department or campus leadership, and a sample of written work.
- Jenkin Outstanding Paper Award-Cash prize based on high quality paper submitted to an upper-level political science course (majors and non-majors eligible). Faculty may nominate papers and students may submit "A" papers for consideration.
- Ernest Lopez Award-Cash prize to an outstanding student in the final quarter at UCR who has been accepted by an accredited law school. There is no race or ethnicity requirement. There is, however, a restriction that the award shall be made to students who are disadvantages by reason of social or economic hardships. Award is campus-wide and this not restricted to any particular major.
