Rankings

The most recent National Research Council rankings of departments provided an important innovation, which scoring programs based on an “S-ranking,” an objective composite measure of performance based on criteria that faculty in the discipline rated as being most important.

Our department was ranked 36th out of 105 nationally in the S-ranking and 23rd nationally in terms of research production (average scores based on 95% confidence interval).  Among the UCs, our department ranked 4th out of 7 in both measures. In terms of average number of publications per faculty, our department ranked third nationally.
