Associate Professor 2226 Watkins Hall John Medearis (Associate Professor) received his Ph.D from the University of California, Los Angeles and joined the UCR faculty in 2001. His teaching and research interests include: political theory (especially modern and contemporary); democratic theory; social movements; welfare policy; and social science methodology and philosophy. Professor Medearis is the author of Joseph Schumpeter's Two Theories of Democracy (2001), for which he was awarded the Thomas J. Wilson Memorial Prize, by Harvard University Press. His research has appeared in the American Journal of Political Science; the American Political Science Review; the British Journal of Political Science, and Polity.
